What is a Plastic Free Toothbrush?

FAQs

Plastic Free Bamboo Toothbrush

Have you ever asked, "What is a plastic free toothbrush?"

Haha ok here we go...A plastic free toothbrush has a handle that is made from the bamboo plant with bristles derived from vegetable oils. The traditional toothbrush is made from plastic and some of them even had pork lining. And even if you find a toothbrush with a bamboo handle, it will most likely have nylon bristles; most of us are not aware that nylon is a derived from plastic. So what's wrong with plastic toothbrushes? Well let me just share a few things...

Did you know the amount of plastic toothbrushes that have been thrown away can wrap around the earth FOUR times?

By now, we have all heard at least once why plastic is not good to use or for the environment. Certain plastics release Bisphenol-A, (BPA) which is known to bind to estrogen receptors and influence bodily processes, such as growth, cell repair, fetal development, energy levels, and reproduction. Plastic is not biodegradable and pollutes the earth at a suffocating rate. At this point, plastic's reputation is going down the drain...no pun intended.

Plastic free toothbrushes are an eco-friendly alternative, as the handles are derived from bamboo, a naturally producing plant that is fully biodegradable, and a renewable and sustainable resource. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on the planet so running out of it's sources is not a concern.

It's not just the toothbrush we should be concerned about. The choice of toothpaste should be carefully considered. Check out my latest discussion about a popular ingredient in Toothpaste that we were all told was beneficial to us.
